From delicious Tapas to outstanding Mediterranean fish, the food of Andalusia is among the best in Spain. And Competa has more than its fair share of restaurants on hand for you to try some of the local favourites. In truth, all of Competa’s numerous venues offer good food and great value, but here we will focus on our particular favourites. Enjoy!
Restaurante El Pilon
Restaurant El Pilón is located in the centre of the village, just a short walk from Plaza Almijara and the central car park. The site has been the location of a restaurant for more than 25 years. Dani and his team provide great service and a sophisticated menu, using fresh local produce.
The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. There is an upstairs terrace that is open to the elements in the warmer months, as well as an indoor dining room and cosy bar area. Be sure to try the lamb cutlets if that’s your thing.
Cortijo Paco
Newly refurbished in a bright Spanish style, Cortijo Paco is a delightful place to have a fabulous meal overlooking the valley views, down to the sea. In the spring and summer, meals are taken on the outdoor terrace, whilst winter dining takes place in the glazed restaurant above. Both have amazing views. The menu here is traditional Spanish, but many dishes have a modern flair.
Situated toward the back of the village, Cortijo Paco has its own car park making it easy to access day and night.
La Taperia
In the hustle and bustle of Competa’a main square, Plaza Almijara, are three restaurants sat side by side. All three are super friendly and offer a fabulous place to enjoy a meal, some tapas or just a cold drink to watch the village life unfold. In times when such activity is permitted, Plaza Almijara often hosts musical entertainment in the warmer evenings, and the restaurants offer a great place to take in the fun.
Tucked in the corner of the square is La Taperia, a Spanish restaurant that serves fantastic fish dishes with cold beers or wine and a welcome smile.
